Sales came back to earth in February but still ahead of last year.
Home sales in Louisville surpassed the previous year, but as you can see in the chart, just barely. For the month of February, 554 homes were sold in Jefferson County.
What is interesting, at least to me, is that as home inventory drops (and it’s certainly dropping!) home buyers have fewer homes to choose from. If more home sellers jumped into the market, these numbers would be even better.
Below are the number of homes sold during the month of February for the past six years.
- 2008: 604
- 2009: 451
- 2010: 459
- 2011: 407
- 2012: 535
- 2013: 554
The increase of 19 additional Louisville homes sold, amounts to a 3.6% improvement for the month. It’ll be interesting to see how home sales move as we enter the Spring selling period.
