According to the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors (GLAR) there were 696 homes sold in Jefferson County during the month of March. That is a 20% improvement over Louisville home sales for February.
But these sales fall short when compared to March of 2013 when 757 properties were sold. That calculates to a -8.1% decline in Louisville home sales.
Like we’ve mentioned many times recently, the weather has played a role in the depressed sales activity this Winter. What we don’t know is now that temperatures have warmed up (today being the exception) will those numbers improve as we head into the Spring selling season.
Comparing Q1, 2014 is -6.8% behind the pace set in 2013 and 7.0% ahead of 2012.
At this point last year, there were 4,370 active listings while today we have just 3,490. Clearly, there’s a great opportunity for Louisville home sellers to get their homes listed and sold quickly.
Just to remind you, our Housing Reports link in the masthead breaks down Jefferson County into the GLAR defined MLS areas for Louisville.
