At this point, it’s pretty clear that even though 2014 stands to be a good year for Louisville real estate, it won’t match 2013.
There were 934 homes sold in Jefferson County during the month of May, according to the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors (GLAR). This is up from 815 that were sold last month.
But when you compare this number to what was sold during May 2013, we see that we are down 8.6% in sales volume.
It’s becoming more and more clear that 2014 will not match the sales totaled during our breakout 2013 year, which is a shame given the complimentary landscape with prices where they are, not to mention interest rates.
Through the first 5 months of the year, there have been 3,577 properties sold in Jefferson County. When we compare this to the same point last year, we were at 3,869, for a cumulative -7.5%.
It’s not impossible for us to make up ground over the next 7 months but it’s highly unlikely at this point.
Just to remind you, our Housing Reports link in the masthead breaks down Jefferson County into the GLAR defined MLS areas for Louisville.
