Our Louisville Home Sales Chart has been updated once again. If you’re new to our site, this is a monthly feature where I create a new chart from the sales data for all of Jefferson County. You may find it located under the Housing Reports drop-down menu at the bottom, labeled “Louisville Home Sales” (see above).
How this one is different to many you might find elsewhere is that that data for each month is compared to the same month from a different year.
Think about it.
How useful is it when you hear a news reporter on the radio say “home sales are up 3.2% over last month” because real estate activity is highly seasonal? Comparing February to January or September to August isn’t very helpful.
The better way is to compare home sales in February 2016 with February 2015. Even better show all the recent February results. See for yourself!
Big month in February blows the other February’s out of the water!
There were 789 properties sold in February in Jefferson County according to the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors database. This is up 28.1% over last year!
In fact, the home sales breaks all time record for the month of February. We’ll see if this translates into a record-breaking Spring!
