Why Choose Quartz Countertops?

Quartz countertops have been around for decades. In the last few years, however, they’ve quickly been gaining popularity and are being used as an alternative to natural stones. Homeowners are choosing quartz for their countertops over other stones now more than ever. And it’s not hard to see why. Quartz is a man-made material and offers an array of benefits. So, what are these benefits? Why choose quartz countertops?

The Benefits of Quartz

More homeowners are ditching traditional stone countertops in favor of quartz alternatives. Why? Well, unlike natural stone options, like granite or marble, for instance, quartz is a man-made material. Because of this, the manufacturing process makes it ideal for use in kitchens and bathrooms. Quartz retains a lot of the strength and durability as natural stone. But the way it’s manufactured takes out a lot of the hassle and maintenance.

The resins that are used to produce quartz make it non-porous, which means that it won’t absorb liquids and doesn’t stain easily. Because it is resistant against tough stains, homeowners can achieve a bright and clean looking kitchen or bathroom with white quartz countertops.

Juice, wine, coffee, and other liquids that cause stains, are much less easily absorbed than they would be with other materials. The fact that it’s non-porous not only makes it harder to stain, it also makes it harder for bacteria to penetrate. Furthermore, quartz is very durable, won’t develop fissures or pits, and is scratch resistant.

How Is It Used For Countertops?

Quartz countertops are constructed using 90% natural quartz mixed with other resin and pigments to create a great surface material. They can be used for numerous types of surfaces. Most commonly, quartz countertops are used in kitchens. They can be used for all kitchen surfaces, countertops, sinks, and islands.

In addition to this, they can be used for other surfaces like desks or bar tops. Quartz countertops are sold in slabs which are cut to order. Templates are made from your existing kitchen slabs and then transferred onto the quartz to create the right size and shape. Due to the custom nature, they can be made into curves and other shapes when needed. This means they can be used in pretty much any layout.

Quartz is known for being low maintenance, especially when compared to natural stone. It doesn’t require sealing or any special cleaning materials. It’s also much more resistant to staining and other damage. However, despite being low maintenance, it still retains the natural beauty of natural options. The finish of the man-made stone is just as rich and luxurious as natural stones like granite or marble.

Quartz countertops are available in a variety of colors and patterns. In fact, because of the manufacturing process, there are a lot more options available than in natural stone.  Quartz can be matte or shiny, can be customized, and can be produced in a range of patterns. This makes it good for all types of decor – from contemporary spaces to more traditional kitchens.
